The following information is intended to assure you that we are concerned about and respect your privacy. This statement discloses the information practices for the sandyhill.org, sandyhill.com, sandyhillretreat.com, and sandyhillcamp.com websites, including what types of information are collected and how the information is used. To make this policy easy to find, we make a link to it available on our site's home page as well as on many of the pages where personally identifiable information is requested.
2. The Information We Collect
A. Non-Identifiable Information
We do not collect information using IP addresses, "cookies" or other similar methods while you are browsing our website.
B. Personally Identifiable Information
The personally identifiable information we receive comes directly from website visitors who are registering a child for camp, requesting information about our programs, submitting applications for staff positions, or logging on as a parent or staff member. Typically, this information includes, but is not limited to, camper registration information, staff applicant information, IP address, visitor's name, postal address, e-mail address, and telephone number, and dates and times of transactions.
C. Payment Information
In order for you to provide payment for a camper's deposit and/or tuition, your credit card information will be collected to process payment. The complete credit card information is only stored in session variables that are deleted when you logout from your session or when you close your browser window. We do not have access to your full credit card number if it is only given to us via our website. Only in special circumstances when you provide credit card information in writing or verbally might this information be retained on a separate local server that is also not accessible through the website or in paper form. This credit card information is kept separately from other demographic information you may have given us.
3. How Your Information is Used
We will use the information you provide to process enrollment requests, consider and hire candidates for staff positions, provide you with services on our website, and share product, service or camp news and offers with you. We do not sell, rent, or trade any of your personally identifiable information to any third parties. The exception to this policy is the release of certain personal information to government agencies following the due process of law.
4. Our Commitment to Data Security
The security and confidentiality of your information is extremely important to us. Before you submit personally identifiable information, you are directed to a secure web server. Our web server is hosted by Edge Web Hosting (www.edgewebhosting.net). Copies of the data stored on this web server are kept on local servers at camp that are not accessible from the website.
Sandy Hill and Edge Web Hosting make every effort to prevent unauthorized access to any and all information that you may submit through our website. Because we cannot, however, guarantee that unauthorized access to this information will never occur. In the unlikely event that a breach in site security occurs, we will notify you of the matter directly.
5. Our Commitment to Children's Privacy
Protecting the privacy of children is especially important. The Children's Online Privacy
Protection Act (COPPA) applies to the online collection of personal information from children under the age of 13. It is designed to ensure that parents are in control over what information is collected from children under 13.
For that reason, we do not intentionally collect personally identifiable information on our website from those who are under 13. Personally identifiable information is collected through parent and staff login accounts and persons under the age of 13 are not permitted to create these accounts. Any information about a child under the age of 13 must be submitted either by the child's parent or legal guardian or under the direct supervision of the parent or legal guardian.
6. Changes or Updates to Collected Information and Opting Out
In many cases, you can make your own changes to the information that you have submitted online through the parents' and staff login accounts. You may also change or update the information that you have provided us by contacting us at [email protected] or by phone at (410) 287-5554. You may also write to us at: Sandy Hill Camp, 3380 Turkey Point Road, North East, MD 21901.
